Auckland International Airport

Smoking is permitted before security in designated areas of the forecourt at the international and domestic terminal.

Departing and transit travellers can access the smoking lounge after security, on the second level of the international terminal.
Auckland International Airport has numerous smoking areas outside the terminal. Many are located just across the traffic lanes and some are undercover and some are not.

►Arrivals: Outside door 11 (Near McDonalds and Hire Cars) This area is uncovered.

►Departures: Outside door 5 (Near Check-in Zone C) This area is covered.

►After Security: This one is harder to find. Once you clear security and walk through the shopping areas head up the stairs/escalators towards the gates. At the top of the escalators turn right back towards the lift. You will see a small smoking sign. Follow the corridor around and exit at the double doors and there is a fairly large outdoor area. Some of the area is covered and some is open air. There is also a place to sit.

Wellington International Airport

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals. There are no smoking facilities inside the terminal. For connecting flights you have to clear immigration and customs, smoke outside the terminal then go through Security again for your flight.

Christchurch International Airport

Smoking is permitted before security in 3 designated areas at the international terminal. There is a smoking room called "Viewing Deck" which is near to gate 30 international departure.

Dunedin International Airport

Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals. There are no smoking facilities inside the terminal. For connecting flights you have to clear immigration and customs, smoke outside the terminal then go through Security again for your flight.

Queenstown International Airport

Queenstown International Airport does not list any smoking areas or restrictions on it’s website.

Large areas of the forecourt area are smoke free however there are a couple of areas close to the Arrivals/Departures areas with outside seating and ashtrays to accommodate smokers.

There is no smoking once inside the terminal including the international departures area past security.

Other Airports

There are no smoking facilities inside the terminal. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminals.
