Christchurch Airport is located about 12 km from Christchurch city centre.
There are several taxi companies available and prices may vary. Taxis licensed
to operate from the airport are required to meet the airport company’s service
standards. If you’re travelling to / from the airport by taxi, make sure you
allow plenty of time.
Regular Metro Bus services connect the airport to the city; the Number 3, 8, 29
and 125, bus
goes to the Central Station at down town. You can buy your tickets from the
driver (cash only). The cost is from $4.00 for a one-way ticket. Buses depart outside the far end of the
international arrivals terminal.
• Number 3 - Airport to Sumner, via Avonhead and City Centre
• Number 29 - Airport to City via Fendalton
• Number 125 - Redwood to Westlake via Christchurch Airport
• Number 8 - Port to Port (Airport to Lyttelton)
A regular Metro Bus is available every 30-minute interval, seven days a week.
A shuttle is a cost effective way to travel into the city. Discounts apply if
two or more people are travelling together - $4 for each additional person.
Shuttles are normally shared with other passenger groups. The journey can take
up to 40 minutes at peak traffic times or when there are several drop-offs along
the way. Allow plenty of time to reach the airport for departing flights.
