Whanganui Airport has two on-site car parks for its visitors, it is FREE parking for first 1 hour (casual zone). The car parking space in any of the car parks cannot be booked in advance and vehicles are parked at the owner's risk.

The Long Term Car Park is fully fenced and is secured and alarmed after the last flight in the evening and reopened prior to the first flight in the morning. It is intended for the use of passengers requiring extra security and those expecting to be away for a longer period than that permitted in the casual zone. The charge is $10 per 24 hours period or part thereof.

There is an area directly in front of the terminal to drop off passengers or baggage before using the car park or leaving the airport. Vehicles must not be left unattended in the drop off area. Waiting in this area is restricted to 5 minutes and offending vehicles may also be towed away.

Payment

Paying for your car parking can be done at the pay station located just inside the terminal. This machine accepts coins, notes and credit cards (Visa or Mastercard), however, a maximum of only seven days parking is possible.

Customers using this method of payment (Pay by Plate) need to remember their car registration plate number to commence the transaction, but do not need to return to the vehicle after payment has been made. Payment may also be made at the South Beach Cafe in the terminal (cash, EFTPOS and credit card) - this option can accept parking for periods longer periods than seven days.

Provision also exists for customers who regularly use the secure car park at to pay a single annual fee of $350. See the Airport Operations Officer if wishing to adopt this option.
